Series Landover's of mine

I had my Land Rover (Series 3) rolling road tuned on the 29th of December 2008, it develops 65HP at the wheel, and at a guess (By the chap who did the tune up) it develops about 95 - 100 HP at the flywheel. (added on 13Jan09)

The engine is a 2.5L 5mb petrol, but I've fitting an SU carburettor with a side draft manifold, had the head ported out and skimmed and put a straight through exhaust on it. Also removed the fan and fitted a thermostat in to a radiator hose and a fan in front of the rad. (added on 13Jan09)

Before I get cracking, you should see this? If you have sketch up, this may well interest you (Not just series though):

Also have come across some 2D and 3D AutoCAD models of Land Rovers?

Tyre sizes is an issue I have been looking at recently, see the PDF or DWG of thesizes against each other.. (Below this preview) Tyre Sizes.pdf

This is the AutoCAD file for the tyre sizes:

I have the land rover chassis dimensions, I will put these on here sometime soon, I want to get them in to AutoCAD format first, that way they are really useful, also they could be made into a SolidWorks 3D model, which could be heavily modified. I would like to model up a tubular chassis, with roll cage built in. Then product a full set of drawings! I'm sure that if I do it, or when I do... I will put them on here. Take a look at my Landy Graphics page for an idea of how I am getting on with the 3D model of my Land Rover.

Installing a 2.5L with webber carb (Thats my friend working not I), installed and done, minu grill I guess.

Some random guy (get in touch if you're he) driving at Mabe Shindig, Hannah down on Carrick Roads & looking out to sea above Porth Towan.

A while ago at work I did Caesar 2 training course (for those not engineering design industry - its a pipe stress analysis package), by the second day of the three introductory days, I'd modeled and stress tested the roll cage that i have in the series 2!! that was a bit of fun, it impressed the tutor so much he asked for the model!!

Less of talk about myself and more on the landy's I here you shout!

A few more pictures of other land rovers:

Loaded up with fire wood, burning the wood in the quary at Poly Joke and the morning after.

Hell for leather (who said that first?). This one started and ran after being in a hedge for apparently 10 years, and out and about trialing, i think I'd just bust a half shaft, hence being stopped at the bottom of the hill.

The other day I needed a wiring diagram for the series three. I found a scan from somewere.. It is not correct to my vehicle. Here are the links to the 'Diagram' and the 'Key'

I draw up my wiring diagram for my vehicle. I think that its fairly standard for a normal series 3, minus all the military bits.

Also I have the chassis dims which I'll add some time soon.

Here's a picture of my land rover when out green laning in December some time, 2009 when it snowed in Cornwall!! We spent about 7 hours out playing in it. The other 4x4s are just jap cr*p, though the vitara handled well and did things I didn't expect of it, the others were as you'd expect..

Taking the engine out in prepertaion for changing the gearbox to the LT77. I thought this would take me about a four weeks, in the end it was closer to 6 months.

Out green laning below united Downs on a bit of rough ground at the end of a Byway one evening after work. Lovely day, thought it?d be nice. It was. Mid 2009.

Random pictures of the landy, first were I used to live in Carnon Downs. Mid 2009. Then Threemilestone (2002, 3 or 4) then St. Austell (2005).

Got the LT77 gearbox mounted up on my military cross member, with the rear drive flange position the same distance back as the series gearbox was, so that the rear prop is standard length, the front prop will there for be 4 inches longer.

I got a bonus from work the other day, November 2010 maybe, so i blew the lot on a new set of tyres for the land rover. I thought long and hard about what tyres to get, I even asked on a forum or two. If you've ever asked on a forum about tyres for a series land rover, you'll know that the majority of people will either tell you to get something standard which looks right or to get the most popular tyre at that time or they'll suggest the tyre that they happen to have fitted. I finally made up my on own mind, which I have to be honest, is the only way to do it. I picked the Recip Mud tyre. Recip have gone bust, but a chap on ebay supplied me with four tyres.

I read a few write ups by people who have saying that they're good in most conditions, they're not out and out trials tyres, but they're ok on the road even on the wet. So far I have found them to be as capable as I am!
